About Us

The Indonesia Investment Promotion Center (IIPC) New York office is the official representative of the Indonesian Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industry / Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) covering the American continent (North America, USA, Central America, Latin America, and the Caribbean).

BKPM develops strategies to improve an end-to-end service for investors. Our team will assist investors from exploring business opportunities in Indonesia, obtaining investment licenses and incentives, and carrying out the construction stage to finishing the commercial operation stage. As the main link between business and government, the ministry is responsible for creating a conducive investment climate in Indonesia.

5-Step of Doing Business in Indonesia

Policy & Regulation Checking

Consult investment opportunities and policies with MoI/ BKPM or Indonesia Investment Promotion Centers (IIPCs)
Check the Indonesian “positive investment list” to identify regulation on foreign ownership, fiscal incentives & partnership.

Company Establishment

Establish limited liability (Perseroan Terbatas/ PT) at public notary with minimum 2 shareholders and a minimum paid up capital of IDR10 billion (~US$667,000).

Business Registration & Licensing

Through OSS* (oss.go.id):

Get Business Registration Number (NIB), Tax ID Number (NPWP), & Healthcare & Social Security (BPJS).
Fulfill basic requirements on spatial utilization, environment, & building depending on biz sectors.
Obtain standard certificate or business license depending on activity risk.

Investment Incentives & Facilities

Apply for tax incentives and/or import duty facilities for eligible business sectors through OSS system.

Project Construction & Operation

Start project construction and operation. Ministry of Investment/BKPM offers end-to-end services to assist investors throughout the process.

Key Information about the Regulations

MAXIMUM FDI OWNERSHIP & PRIORITY SECTOR INCENTIVES

Checking the regulation on the prospective business sector that is going to be operated in Indonesia whether it is open, closed, open with requirements for FDI, or listed as a priority sector based on the Presidential Regulation No. 49/2021 jo. 10/2021. Also incentives that can be given for business in that sector.

MINIMUM PAID UP CAPITAL

Fulfilling the minimum required paid up capital as stated in the regulation of the BKPM No. 4 Year 2021; is at least IDR10,000,000,000 (ten billion rupiahs), unless otherwise stipulated by laws and regulations. For example, the capital requirement for construction works under Government Regulation No. 5 Year 2021 is a minimum of IDR25,000,000,000 (twenty-five billion Rupiahs).

MINIMUM INVESTMENT VALUE

Specifically for Foreign Investment business entities, based on Regulation of the BKPM Number 4 Year 2021, are included in the category of large-scale business. Which means it need to have a business capital of more than IDR10,000,000.00 (ten billion rupiahs) excluding land and buildings for business premises.
